About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Basildon. This role involves working closely with children who have special educational needs (SEN), including autism (ASD), ADHD, and social, emotional & mental health (SEMH) needs.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored 1:1 or small group support, helping pupils engage in their learning and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support children with additional needs in EYFS, KS1, or KS2
- Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions
- Help adapt learning materials to suit individual pupils’ needs
- Work alongside class teachers and SENCOs to implement support strategies
- Encourage pupils’ social and emotional development in a safe environment
- Support behaviour management and promote positive learning experiences
Requirements
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN (desirable)
- A patient, caring, and empathetic approach
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
